The numbers in your report are not trying to turn your houseplant into a mathematics exam. They are there to help you compare clues that can otherwise seem contradictory.
A high Surface Moisture Reading means the upper layer appears dry or is losing moisture quickly. That does not automatically mean the roots are dry. If the Root Zone Moisture Reading tells a different story, pay closer attention to the deeper test, pot weight, and recent watering history before adding more water.
The Evaporation Pressure score estimates how strongly light, warmth, and airflow may be drying the exposed surface. A sunny window, warm balcony, ceiling fan, or air-conditioning can make the top centimetres dry surprisingly quickly while the protected soil below changes much more slowly.
