The latest trailer for AI: The Somnium Files nirvanA Initiative from Spike Chunsoft features an investigation system and new gameplay mechanics. Players will have six minutes to explore various mental landscapes and solve crimes. In this game, they will also be able to see what happens to people’s bodies while they’re asleep.
The game will feature new characters, including the deuteragonist, Tama. Tama appears in two episodes of the game: Side: Ryuki and Side: Mizuki. In the latter game, Tama appears as the deuteragonist of “Side: Ryuki”, which takes place six years earlier. She is an AI-Ball that has advanced artificial intelligence, and she is usually found in the left eye socket of Ryuki. Her job is to gather information from networks and use special functions to find the truth. Tama also has a sadistic streak.
Aiba investigates the Somnium in an indoor area of a building complex, where a strange blue silhouette is visible in the air. While investigating, she finds a piece of paper with cryptic writing on it. As she explores an outdoor park, she notices stone slabs and markers. It is unclear if this is an extension of the Ikume Shrine.
The game trailer also shows a different side of the story. The game opens in the same way as the original. Tama’s father is the owner of an industrial building and he owns it. The original game takes place at the Okiura Fishery Cold Storage Warehouse, which is in the Harbor Warehouse District. Tama must use air traversal to reach various parts of the Somnium.
