Characters sound like modern-day white people
While the game is set in a post-apocalyptic future, it still contains a fair amount of racism. Players are cast as members of the Nora tribe, led by Aloy, who is determined to track down the source of a mysterious plague. Although most of the game takes place in an ancient past, it does feature modern-day white characters. The game’s narrative director, John Gonzales, acknowledges that characters’ voices sound more like modern-day white people than any other cultural group.
