The Issue of Suffering Has a Purpose and a Problem

The issue of suffering is a complex and controversial subject. Although it is an intrinsic part of life, there are two sides to this coin. One side is rationale, which is necessary for everyday life. But the other side is the present pain, which cannot be ignored. The two sides of the coin are interdependent and seldom studied from a distance. It is an experience that is personal and often painful.

According to Lewis, a world without God is a senseless place without moral governors. In such a world, the only reason for treating other people well is to avoid your own pain. While physical evil may remain constant, moral evil will grow. The only way to be happy in such a world is to deny the existence of God. The issue of suffering has a purpose and problem.

In Lewis’s “Evil and Suffering,” evil and suffering are metaphysically necessary. Supposedly, the finite world was created by a cosmic life force, which was the cause of all creation. Schopenhauer called this cosmic will, or principium individuationis. As such, the need for individual beings to reproduce themselves becomes a conflict between their finite wills and the wills of other beings.

In this view, the question of why suffering occurs has a logical answer. We are not the source of suffering. We suffer because of a sin that we have committed. This is the reason for our suffering. While our sins are not inherently wrong, our choices affect our behavior. Ultimately, we have to choose what to do when we suffer, even if it is not ours.

Christian views of suffering have a unique meaning. In contrast to the world of the skeptics, Christians believe that suffering is an inevitable part of life. This means that human beings should accept that they will suffer as long as they continue to believe in God. In the end, these beliefs are not the same as the Christian view. The issue of being happy is not an essential issue for the Christian.

The Christian view of suffering begins with Jesus’ messianic self-understanding. The temptation of Jesus was to become a worldly king. This, in turn, led him to suffer. In the Gospel of Matthew, the temptation of the Messiah is to be the messianic. Nevertheless, Christ was tempted to reject this idea, and he subsequently suffered. In contrast to this, he tempted his disciples to believe that he would become the Messiah, who would come and save the world.

The issue of suffering has a purpose and problem. However, the Christian religion is the only major religion that encourages its followers to embrace and celebrate suffering. The Book of James exhorts Christians to be joyful in their trials. Job was afflicted with great trials but still blessed God after he was snared from his enemies. And while the Christian world does not believe in the existence of God, it does not oppose the existence of evil.

Christians are the only religion that instructs its followers to embrace suffering. It is the only religion to call on its followers to embrace suffering. Its Bible is a source of counter-cultural teachings. It is not uncommon for the Christian church to teach its followers to be joyful in the face of their trials. It also teaches Christians to accept their pain and not reject it. Furthermore, the biblical doctrine of suffering offers some hope in the face of adversity.

The Christian understanding of suffering starts with the messianic self-understanding of Jesus. The messianic self-understanding is a temptation to power and self-exaltation. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus is tempted by the devil to use power in a worldly manner. In this way, Jesus deeply disappoints his disciples’ notions of power. This is the Christian approach to the issue of suffering.
